Weight Management is an important discipline for healthy pets. Using the example of Pugsley and his owner Jason, this course leads you through a diagnosis session when Pugsley and Jason visit the clinic. Using a Q&A format with richly visualised examples, the course challenges you to handle a session with a potentially overweight pet and their owner, determine the extent of any weight management issues and provide some strategies to deal with them. This learning module is worth 0.5 hour of continuing education credit. A downloadable certificate will be available following successful completion of the course with a score of 70% or greater.
You will need a general understanding of how to manage a session with a pet and their owner and an appreciation of canine health basics. Give yourself plenty of time to complete the course without rushing and try to find space to undertake the course in a quiet area, free of distractions. The course should take approximately 35 minutes to complete.
- An understanding of weight management for dogs, identifying weight management issues particular to the individual pet and the scale of those issues, finding strategies for dealing with overweight and general health and nutrition advice. This course will give you the confidence to engage with owners of pets with weight management issues and give you strategies to help address the weight management issues to improve the health of the pet.
