Nutritional Management of Gastrointestinal Disorders

The Gastrointestinal Disorders course is designed to give you an overview of key factors affecting pet gastrointestinal (GI) health. The course discusses diagnosis of common GI conditions in cats and dogs, related key nutritional factors, and nutritional management strategies to help minimise GI distress.

Course Information

This course offers a dual-track approach to help you learn more about the prevalence of gastrointestinal (GI) issues and symptoms in cats and dogs, optimal nutrition to manage these digestive disorders as well as the gut microbiome, an important factor in a pet's overall health and quality of life. First, you have the option to participate in the case of Buddy, a 2-year-old male Golden Retriever, and his pet parent Amy as they visit Dr. Hill and veterinary nurse Ana to discuss Buddy's recurrent diarrhoea with vomiting. You can continue your GI learning with the remaining 4 interactive learning modules. Also, you can follow the link at the bottom of the course listing to view 11 videos focusing on the GI microbiome.

You will need a general understanding of canine and feline health basics, as well as how to manage a digestive care session with a pet and pet parent.

An understanding of how to help pet parents provide optimal nutrition for their cats and dogs to manage common GI disorders, help minimise symptoms, and enhance quality of life.

After you complete the 5 modules, you can get additional CE credits by watching the Hill's Global Symposium conference videos and answering a short quiz after each video.
